Upright, suckering, deciduous shrub to 15’ tall. Interesting compound foliage, bees love the small white flowers July–Aug, birds love the juicy black fruit Aug Oct. Spiny stems give this shrub distinctive & unique ornamental interest. Fall foliage is pale yellow to dull purple brown. Likes average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun/part shade.
