Common Name
Virginia-Willow
Wetland Status
FACW
Deciduous shrub to 8 ft. Small, white flowers bloom in 4 in. spires that droop with the arching branches. Leaves turn yellow to orange in fall and persist well into the winter. The long tassels of white flowers and red fall foliage make this an attractive ornamental. Most effective in massed plantings. Part-shade, moist soil. Good wetland ornamental. 'Henry's Garnet' was bred for larger flowers and deeper fall color and was a Spring 2017 Louisiana Super Plant.
