Panicum virgatum 'Short Sassy'

Found in Tangipahoa Parish, La; compact habit and fuller growth; 3'-5' tall, fall-flowering spikes with soft golden seed heads remain attractive into winter.  Tolerates poor soil, dry conditions, prefers no fertilizer or special care; full sun for strong growth; simply cut back in early spring.
