Flowering shade tree 50' - 80' tall, noted for its profuse spring blooms, attractive summer foliage and fall color. Fragrant white flower clusters in the spring followed by drooping clusters of small red cherries ripening in late summer to dark purple-black. Fruits are bitter fresh off the tree, but wildlife love them and they can be put in jams/jellies/cherry bounce. Full sun/part shade, in average, medium, well-drained soil.
