Vaccinium elliottii
Botanical Name

Vaccinium elliottii

Common Name
Elliott's Blueberry
Wetland Status
FACW

A beautiful deciduous shrub with a graceful, open habit for a mixed hedge or as a specimen. The leaves turn brilliant shades of scarlet in fall. The lovely white flowers (pink-hued before fully developed) form edible blueberry fruits that attract humans and wildlife.   The shrub has a loose rounded form, and often exhibits bright green stems.  Grows bushier and produces more fruit in full sun but they also do well in light shade and will survive in dense shade.  Will thrive in poorly drained wet soil and in well drained sandy soil.  Established specimens can tolerate normal droughts.
